There are several sink installation types, every type is easy to install, and so the decision about which type to choose should depend mostly on the style of sink you want in your bathroom, kitchen or bar. We recommend you have the sink installed by a professional, someone who best understands plumbing procedures. A professional installer will be better able to adapt the installation to your particular needs.
DROP IN SINKS
This style of sink features a finished edge or raised rim around the outside and can be dropped into any custom countertop. These types of sinks are also called Countertop or Top Mount.
UNDER MOUNT SINKS
A style of bathroom sink that is positioned under the cutout of the countertop. Under mount sinks are attached to the undersides of countertops, vanities, or console tables. The rim of the sink is covered by the countertop, so only the inside of the basin is visible. All drop in sinks with flat rims can be installed as under mount sinks. These type of sinks are also called Under Counter or Recessed.
VESSEL SINKS
A style of bathroom sink that is designed to sit on top of the counter and be completely exposed. The drain is level with the counter, and the edge of the bowl is far above the counter surface. These type of sinks are also called Over the Counter.
SELF – RIMMING SINKS
A style of bathroom sink that is actually a hybrid of the drop in style and the vessel style. Inset vessel sinks can be dropped into any custom countertop like a drop in sink, but kept partially exposed similar to a vessel sink.
